A Cotswolds Guide
I thought I would create a little guide in case anyone is thinking of visiting and selfishly, a guide for me, in case I go back and I need to remember certain places/shops/restaurants.
I’ve been to the Cotswolds a few times now. And I still love it and keep discovering beautiful things every time I go.
A couple of weekend ago, my mum, sister and aunt came to the UK to visit me as the last hurrah before bebe number 3 arrives and we went to the Cotswolds - it was just amazing. When I went with my husband and daughters back in February it was great but we focused the trip on the girls so I couldn’t really dived into the beautiful antique shops or just normal shops, so this time I was able to enjoy that side of the Cotswolds.
I thought I would create a little guide in case anyone is thinking of visiting and selfishly, a guide for me, in case I go back and I need to remember certain places/shops/restaurants.
Villages we visited:
Burton on the Water - we arrived here when the shops had already closed but we went for a walk around the village and loved it. It has a river that divides the village and lots of bridges that take you from one side to the other.
Kingham - beautiful and quiet. It has a little village shop but nothing else. Then you have the well known “Wild Rabbit” and also the Kingham Plough. We had dinner at the Kingham Plough and loved it.
Burford - this village is on a hill and the main street it’s divided by a road which can be annoying as there is a lot of traffic. However the main street is full of antique shops, food shops, book shops, etc. Each of them so charming and unique!
Stow on the Wold - a village where you can spend so much time looking through its beautiful shops, lovely streets and Church.
Broadway - probably the most touristy village - or that’s the impression I got. Still, gorgeous and we found nice shops. We then visited the Tower of Broadway which we loved. Especially because we went when the sun was going down so the view was stunning.
Snowhill - we got there when it was already a bit dark but still worth it. It’s like a fairytale village, so sweet!
Restaurants/Pubs:
The Plough inn Kingham - nice pub in Kingham. Great atmosphere and delicious food - we had the burger which was so good!
Daylesford - the perfect spot for lunch if you go and visit Daylesford in the morning. All the food they have is made with their own products.
The Lamb Inn - Burford. We went there for a cup of coffee and a bit of cake. We sat on a cozy sitting room where the fire was on and it felt amazing.
The Porche House, Stow on the Wold - the eldest pub in England. It’s beautiful and charming, I loved the interiors. The food was very good.
Shops:
Daylesford - we spent a whole morning here - just full of beautiful (and expensive!) things. I bought a few things for the house.
Susie Watson Designs, Broadway - the dream for anyone who loves interiors. Everything is beautiful - the fabrics, furniture, accessories…They sell online so have a look as it’s amazing.
Antiques at The George, Burford - a 3 floor antique shop full of treasures. The owner is so lovely and I loved how all the labels were handwritten by her and full of details of each piece.
Tara Antiques, Stow on the Wold - another antique paradise - you can literally can find anything. I bought some beautiful small plates but I could have bought so much more.
Penelope Chilvers- Stow on the Wold - this shop used to be the famous Cutter Brooks, and now it’s a shoe shop. The shoes are very cool but personally, what I loved the most is that they have kept the interiors of Cutter Brooks and still looks so lovely!
Sam Wilson, Stow on the Wold - full of lovely things for the house and they already had lots of Christmas decorations. Very tempting!
I hope this helps and if you have any recommendations, please leave them on the comments!
Love,
Elisa
